Liverpool forward Diogo Jota has tragically passed away following a car accident in the early hours of Thursday morning near Zamora, in northwestern Spain.
Accident Details
The 28-year-old Portuguese footballer was traveling with his brother, Andre, who also lost his life in the crash. The incident took place on the A-52 highway near Palacios de Sanabria, as they were heading toward Benavente.
According to authorities, the Lamborghini they were in veered off the road at around 12:30 a.m. Early reports suggest a tire may have burst while the vehicle was overtaking, causing it to leave the road and ignite in flames.
Investigation Underway
Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene. Officials noted that no other vehicles were involved in the crash, and speeding is being investigated as a possible factor.
